Aspiration Smoke Detection (VESDA)

An aspiration detection system, also known as an aspirating smoke detector or air sampling detection (ASD) system, is a fire detection system that uses a network of pipes to detect smoke.

How it works 

  • A fan unit draws air through a network of pipes
  • The air is sampled for smoke particles
  • A central detection unit analyzes the air for pre-ignition molecules
  • If smoke is detected, an alarm is raised

  • Can detect fires at a very early stage, even before there’s any smoke or flames
  • Can be up to 30 times faster than conventional smoke detection systems
