Notifier ISO-X Isolator Module

Core Function:

  • The ISO-X’s primary purpose is to isolate sections of the SLC loop in the event of a short circuit. By doing so, it prevents a single short from disabling the entire loop, ensuring that other parts of the system remain operational.

Key Features:

  • Short-Circuit Isolation:
    • It automatically detects and isolates short circuits on the SLC loop.
  • Automatic Restoration:
    • Once the short circuit is cleared, the ISO-X automatically restores the isolated section of the loop.
  • Addressable System Compatibility:
    • It’s designed to work seamlessly with Notifier’s addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Loop Continuity:
    • It helps maintain loop continuity, which is essential for the proper functioning of addressable devices.
  • LED Indication:
    • It often includes an LED indicator to visually display its status, such as when it’s actively isolating a section of the loop.
  • Bi-directional Isolation:
    • It isolates shorts in either direction of the SLC loop.

In essence:

  • The Notifier ISO-X acts as a protective device, minimizing the impact of short circuits on the SLC loop and ensuring that the fire alarm system can continue to function effectively during an emergency. It improves the survivability of the SLC loop.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage:
    • 15 to 32 VDC.
  • Maximum SLC Current:
    • 17 mA (device in isolation, LED latched in alarm).
  • Operating Temperature Range:
    • 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C).
  • Humidity Range:
    • 10% to 93% non-condensing.
  • The Notifier ISO-X is designed to automatically open when a short circuit occurs on the SLC loop. It is also designed to automatically close once the short circuit is corrected.

Key features pertaining to the Specifications:

  • It is designed to isolate short circuits on either side of it on the SLC loop.
  • It is designed to automatically restore the SLC loop when the short is cleared.
  • It features an LED to display when it is in isolation mode
